Obituary

Jean Marie Korn (Owens) passed peacefully at Paoli Hospital on February 23, 2022 at the age of 91. Jean was predeceased by her beloved husband and soulmate, Bill; her sisters Jackie, Connie and Dot, and her brother Bill.

Born in Ashland, Pa., on July 16, 1930, Jean was raised by her mother Emma and her father Jim.

A loving Christian, Jean was a member and previous secretary of the former St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Ridley Park, Pa., and she also worked as a secretary for Imperial Sales in Broomall, Pa. Jean was an avid crafter, knitter and crocheter who loved game shows (particularly Jeopardy!) and could be credited with keeping QVC in business for a time. She loved coordinating her outfits and accessories with each holiday's colors and theme. She never met a sparkly piece of jewelry she didn't like, often answering the question "Is it real?" with "Well, you can see it, can't you?"

Over the course of her life, she cherished time with family and friends, whether it be a "TGIF sleepover" or road trip to Dutch Wonderland with her grandchildren, a chat on the front porch with her long-time Bridge Road neighbors, a long-distance telephone call, or a backyard barbecue with homemade coleslaw, cucumber salad and her husband's fresh-made french fries. She rarely missed a weekly hair appointment to catch up with the ladies at the salon, particularly if she and Bill planned on heading to the casinos soon to play the penny slots, head to Erin's Pub in Norwood for a celebratory dinner or attend a function at the church.

Their house rivaled the North Pole come Christmastime, a holiday dear to her and Bill's hearts, as they regularly filled the home with the sounds of Andy Williams and Nat King Cole, the smell of fresh-baked cookies and pies and the twinkle of thousands of lights across their Dickens' Christmas Village display. She matched Mrs. Claus in her gift-giving ability and excitement, often beginning to stockpile gifts in July. Most recently, she looked forward to annually gifting her great-granddaughter Riley with the newest Peanuts' blanket.

Jean is survived and lovingly cherished by her son Bill (Marge); her daughter Peggy (Bill); her granddaughters Ellen (Chris) and Erin (Nick); her one special great-granddaughter, Riley, who shares Jean's love of milkshakes; and her two sisters Linda and Peach.

A Graveside service will be at 11:00AM Wednesday, March 2, 2022 in Eastlawn Cemetery in Swarthmore, Pa., where she will rest forever in peace next to Bill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, a charity near and dear to Jean's heart for the assistance it gave her family when she was a child.
