Jean S. Gallan Donato, 99, passed away on February 16, 2018 at Crozer-Keystone Hospice at Taylor. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Margaret Milne Gallan. Jean was the beloved wife of Jim Donato, who preceded her in death in 2011, after 72 years of marriage.

After the family migrated to the USA in 1923, they lived in the Morton area of Ridley Township. Jean attended Ridley Township High School, graduating in 1937. In her younger years, Jean enjoyed riding horses and was a proficient swimmer and diver at Morton pool. After her marriage to Jim in 1939 and being a homemaker for several years, Jean ventured out into the working world, working part time at Tancreed's in Media. Jean and Jim spent many summers with the family in Wildwood, NJ and later on in Sea Isle City, NJ.

She was predeceased by her four sisters, Lena Slater, Peggy Purdy, Jessie Porteous and Minnie Flynn; and her two brothers, Jim Gallan and Jack Gallan.

Survivors: her son, James Donato, Jr. (JoAnn); her granddaughter, Jeanine Tancredi; her grandsons, James Donato, III (Monica) and Joseph Donato; also, her great-grandchildren, John and Anthony Tancredi, Alanna Dooley and Isabella and Angelo Donato.


Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Friday, February 23, 2018 at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park, PA 19078, where relatives and friends may call after 10:00 AM.

Burial: Immaculate Heart Cemetery
