Professor Janusz M. Lysko (75) of Ridley Park passed away on February 26, 2024. Born in Warsaw, Poland, he was the son of the late Stanislaw G. and Barbara F. Fielek Lysko and older brother of Jan Marek Lysko.
Janusz was a distinguished mathematician, holding a doctorate degree from the University of Warsaw. In 1979, a teaching grant from Kent State University brought him to America. His passion for teaching continued at the Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., University of Delaware and Union College. His final, 30-year tenured position ended at Widener University.
He shared 40 years of marriage with Danuta L. "Dana" Czapka and lovingly embraced his role as a devoted step-father to her children and grandchildren. Those who knew him will remember Janusz was a man of great courage, intellect and a delightfully quirky sense of humor. His interests included playing contract bridge, swimming, tennis, long hikes and camping – truly living life to the fullest.
