James M. Stevenson 84 of Aston, died July 28, 2013 at Crozer Chester Medical Center.
Born in Darby, he lived in Collingdale before moving to his late residence in 1958.
He was a Senior Instrument Tech for Gulf Oil Company in Philadelphia for 25 years.
Mr. Stevenson attended Darby High School until he entered the U.S. Navy in 1946 and served during WWII. He was a founding member and former Vestryman of St. James Episcopal Church for 50 years. He also was a member of the St. Andrew Society in Philadelphia, the Odd Fellows Lodge in Darby and was active with the Navy League in Philadelphia.
Mr. Stevenson enjoyed golf and bowling and was Past President of the Gulf Oil Bowling League.
He was husband of the late Nina MacNaughton Hess Stevenson who died in 1987; son of the late David and Martha LeNoir Stevenson; brother of the late David and Thomas Stevenson and grandfather of the late Leslie Buller and Christopher Stevenson.
Survivors; his wife of 21 years, Beatrice "Bea" M. Watson Betts Stevenson; his children James M. Stevenson, Jr. (Margie), Joanne N. Stevenson-Zolnierek (Steven), Janet Dracup (Tom) and John F. Stevenson; his stepchildren Edward V. Betts, III (Ann) and Duane W. Betts; brother Robert L. Stevenson (Dottie); also ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren, four step grandchildren and one step great grandson.
