James S. Smith

James S. Smith (Smitty) died June 11, 2026 at the age of 71. He was the son of the late Corin and Henrietta Frey Smith.

A lifelong resident of Folsom and Ridley Park, Smitty was a 1972 graduate of Ridley High School. He previously worked at the Econo Lodge in Essington, PA and Scott Paper Co in Chester, PA.

Smitty will be remembered as a kind and generous man who would go out of his way to help others. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, especially of the Phillies and Eagles. He was also devoted to his cats Chooch and Leo.

Smitty was the loving husband to Sandra L. Wright Smith for 47 years. He is also survived by his two special great-neices Hannah Woods and Sarah Nixon as well as cousins, mother-in-law, nieces, great-nieces and great-nephews.
