James Horace Scythes, 69, of Media died September 13, 2019 at Crozer Keystone Hospice at Taylor. Born in Bridgeton, NJ, he was the son of the late James Horatio and Violet Dezi Scythes and resided in Ocean City, NJ, before moving to his late residence 44 years ago.
James was a graduate of Holy Cross High School in Ocean City, NJ, class of 1968. He loved music and was the charismatic lead singer of The Beef Band from Ridley Park, but most important, was his family.
James was predeceased by his sisters, Marie Allison and Patricia Shallcross.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Patricia V. Roeckle Scythes; his children, Rebecca Maurer (John), Julie Scythes and James W. Scythes (Jamela Debelak); his siblings, Grace Hill, Sharon Wall and Michael Scythes; his grandchildren, Ivan Maurer, James Maurer and Emmylou Scythes; and his mother-in-law, Sharon Roeckle.
