James D. Schreiber, 76
Lifelong Ridley Parker
Jim Schreiber, age 76, passed away May 27, 2014, surrounded by his family.
Born at home in Chester, PA in 1937, Jim's parents, the late George R. and Mary Finegan Schreiber, moved their growing family to Ridley Park when he was 6 months old. Jim had a rich and active childhood in Ridley Park, graduating from St Madeline's School, St James High School and then Villanova University.
As an adult, Jim enjoyed reading, gardening, walking his dogs around town, and working on his childhood home, a beautiful Victorian house. He loved spending time with his wife in Rehoboth Beach, where he had a second home. His passion was his family and he took every opportunity to be with them, playing in the backyard, baking in the kitchen, enjoying holiday dinners, and having long conversations late into the evening on the front porch.
Jim had the honor and privilege of serving as President and CEO of County Savings Bank, a local financial institution where he happily worked for over 40 years, retiring in December 2013. He often remarked what an ideal job he had, and how lucky he was to be able to work in such a wonderful community.
Attending Mass daily, Jim had a deep relationship with God. He was active participant in his church community, serving on the St. Madeline Finance Committee and rolling up his sleeves to help with many restoration projects.
Jim was brother of the late Anne S. Katein, G. Robert Schreiber, and Charles J. Schreiber
Jim will be forever remembered in the hearts of his family and friends, including his loving wife of 24 years, Debbie; his three devoted children, Mark (Rose), Chris (Lisa) and Allison (Bob) Snyder; his 10 grandchildren Stephanie, Adam, Ben, Jack, Andrew and Emily Schreiber; Nick, Samantha, Natalie and Joseph Snyder; his great grandson Connor; his brother, Thomas (Helen) Schreiber; and the mother of his children, Carol Anne Schreiber
Visitation: 9:15 to 11:15 AM, Monday, June 2nd at The Church of St. Madeline Church, Penn St. and Morton Ave., Ridley Park, PA, followed promptly by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM.
