Obituary

James Vincent Palo 96 of Folsom died April 19, 2014 at ManorCare in Towson, MD. Born in Poland Mines, PA, he lived in Chester before moving to Folsom 58 years ago. He was a Letter Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 31 years, retiring in 1973.

Mr. Palo graduated from Chester High School in 1937 and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during WWII. He was a talented and dedicated musician who loved Big Band music and classic cars. He played alto and baritone sax in the Army Ground Forces Band from 1941 to 1945, as well as the clarinet with the Chester City Band. In the late 70s, he founded "Jim Palo and the Commanders." The group performed big band concerts around Delaware County until 1999.

He was the devoted husband of the late Daria M. Pierdomenico Palo, his wife of 71 years, who died in 2013; father of the late Barbara Palo Foster and Lorraine Palo; son of the late Joseph and Antoinette Nino Palo and brother of the late Rose Taylor, Joseph Palo, Jr., Ann Narcisso, Elmer Palo and Margaret Dionisi.


Survivors: his granddaughters Heather Foster and Johanna Foster; great grandchildren Sophie Foster-Palmer and Kellum Foster-Palmer; also his twin sister Pauline Dolan, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass 10:30AM Thursday at Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church, 208 Milmont Ave., Milmont Park, PA where friends may call 9:30 to 10:15AM. Burial SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
