James A. Nelson, 76, of Ridley Park died March 22, 2019 at the Hospice House at Ridley Park. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Arthur and Margaret Harvey Nelson and resided in the Grays Ferry Section of Philadelphia before moving to his late residence 17 years ago.

James was a graduate of BOK Vocational School, class of 1960 and served in the US Army. He was employed as a Plumber for the University of Pennsylvania for 28 years before retiring in 2008. James was a member of the Church of St. Madeline and an avid Philadelphia sports fan. He enjoyed college sports, loved Stone Harbor and helping people, but most important was his family, especially his grandchildren.

James was the husband of Catherine "Cassy" M. Egan Nelson, his wife of 44 years; father of Heather Noveck (Adam), Brian P. Nelson, Megan Anne Nelson and Catherine "Cassie" Flinn (Jason); grandfather of John Mosley, Robert Mosley, Jennifer Mosley, Thomas Nelson and Samantha Flinn; and brother of John Nelson and Joseph Nelson.

Memorial Service: 8:00 PM Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park, PA 19078, where friends may call from 7:00-9:00 PM
