Obituary

James B. Metzler, 74, of Folsom died February 10, 2021 at Crozer Chester Medical Center.  Born and raised in Chester, he was the son of the late John J. and Emma I. Sumner Metzler and moved to his late residence in 1963.

Jim was a graduate of Ridley High School, class of 1963, and received his BS and Master's Degrees in Accounting from Widener University.  He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War and was employed by the US Government Department of Defense as an Accountant from 2002 until he retired in 2016.  Jim previously was employed by Boeing Co. and Ridley Bowl.  He attended Ridley Park Presbyterian Church, loved Philadelphia sports and held season tickets for the Phillies.  Jim was an avid bowler and treasurer of the men's bowling league.  He enjoyed harness racing, the casino's and his friendship with everyone at Mike and Emma's Steak Shop.

Jim is survived by his sister, Jacklyn L. Doering (Phillip L. Doering); his best friend, Tom McDonnell; and his faithful companion, his dog, Chrissy Marie.

Due to COVID-19, a Graveside Service will be held 1:30 PM Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Edgewood Memorial Park, 325 Baltimore Pike, Glen Mills, PA  19342.
