Obituary

James J. Lynam, 90, of Ridley Park, PA died on September 23, 2024.  Born in Chester, the son of the late Joseph and Rose Diamond Lynam, he lived in Milmont Park before moving to Ridley Park in 1995.

Jim graduated Ridley Township High School, Class of 1952, and attended Delaware County Community College.  He was a proud veteran of the US Navy, having served during the Korean War. Jim was a US Postal Service employee for over 45 years before retiring in 2014. He began his career as a carrier until his promotion to Postmaster - first at Woodlyn and then at the Ridley Park Post Office.  He was a lifelong member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, belonged to the Milmont Republican Club, and was a Life Member of the VFW.  Jim enjoyed coaching for many years helping boys improve both their baseball and life skills, and he served as president of the Our Lady of Peace Athletic Club where his efforts resulted OLP Field being renamed Father Nall Field.

But, of all his life accomplishments, he was most proud of his family - which he loved unconditionally. And they loved him just as much.

For 54 years he was the loving husband of the late Julia J. Medico Lynam, who died on October 23, 2015. He is the father of William R. Lynam (Kate), John C. Lynam (Mary Patricia) and James P. Lynam (Catherine), brother of the late Kay A. Nevin and Ann M. Austin and is also survived by his grandchildren Vincent Lynam (Leia), Maggie Lynam, Colin Lynam (Katie), Jeannette Lynam and JP Lynam as well as his great-grandchildren Natalie, Gia, Khloe and Harper. He will be greatly missed by his special friend Greta, his beloved nephews and nieces as well as extended family and friends - many of whom were present to celebrate his 90th birthday this past July.

His joy was family and his cat. Disney and friends. His faith and church family. Jim loved life and all those who were a part of his.
