James T. Keenan, Sr, 95, of Milmont Park, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 peacefully at home.
He was the beloved husband of the late Alfreda M. (Binowski) Keenan, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage at the time of her passing in November 17, 2011.
Born in Philadelphia, Jim was the son of the late John and Anna Mae (Miller) Keenan. He was one of eleven siblings, and he lived in Philadelphia until he entered the Marine Corps in 1943. In 1953, he and Alfreda purchased their home in Milmont Park, the home he passed away in, and the home in which they raised and educated their four children.
He was an anti-aircraft artillery gunner in Tinian, and served continuously on Saipan and Tinian (Marianas Islands) until being honorably discharged in April, 1946.
Jim "Jellybean" worked on oversized industrial electrical breakers at General Electric Co. for 40 consecutive years, with units shipped to worldwide. He enjoyed retirement with his wife traveling to many places. His favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, and especially golf.
He was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Peach Parish for 68 years, a lifetime member of the Herbert W. Best VFW Post #928, the 2 nd Marine Corps Association, and a long-time volunteer for Meals On Wheels.
Jim was preceded by his wife Alfreda and his granddaughter Jasmine Mangene. He was the devoted father of James T. Keenan, Jr., Luana (Hopkins) Keenan, Patrick J. Keenan, Katherine (Keenan) Mangene, Michael Keenan, and grandfather to Violet Rae Mangene and James D. Keenan.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30am on Wednesday December 1, 2021 at Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church, 208 Milmont Ave. Milmont Park, PA 19033 where relatives and friends may call from 9:15 until 10:15AM. Burial will be at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery.
