James F. Burns, Sr.

James F. Burns, Sr., 79 of Ridley Park died on June 16, 2026. Born and raised in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late William and Cecilia Mackey Burns.

James was a graduate of St. John Neumann High School, class of 1964 and he owned and operated Burns Insurance Consultants for over 50 years. He was a member of The Church of St. Madeline in Ridley Park and was active with the Ridley Park Boys Club where he coached all of the sports. James was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and was an enthusiastic sports gambler. He enjoyed time and the Jersey Shore, but most important was his family, especially his cherished grandchildren.

He was the loving husband of 57 years to Joan T. Del Beato Burns, father of James F. Burns, Jr. (Lisa), Joy Burns Finnegan (Joe) and Krista Burns, grandfather of Lauren, Lexi, Jimmy and Joey Burns, Tia, Mya and Kacie Burns and Riley, Joey and Christopher Finnegan, he was also the brother of the late William Burns, Francis Burns, Eugene Burns, Robert Burns, Nancy Savage and Donald Burns.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at The Church of St. Madeline, 400 Morton Ave., Ridley Park where relatives and friends may call 9:15 to 10:15 AM.
