JAMES G. BECK, 80
James G. Beck, of Wallingford, died February 1, 2011. He was born in Salem, MA son of the late James Goldthwaite Beck and Florence Radcliffe Bell Beck. He served in the US Navy from January, 1949 until December, 1952 during the Korean War. Mr. Beck served as a radio operator on the USS NEREUS (AS-17), USS PERCH (ASSP-313), and the USS BROADBILL (AM-58).
Mr.Beck attended the University of Connecticut and the University of Hartford while working at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft (East Hartford, CT), and PMC when he moved to Delaware County. Mr. Beck spent most of his working years at Boeing Helicopters' Engineering Dept. and subsequently was Project Engineer on H-46 Program. He is a member of ARRL, and enjoyed amateur radio. Call sign N3GUK. He was an avid reader and played the guitar. In his earlier years he played racquet ball, tennis, and golf. Most of all, Mr. Beck was a loving family man with a great sense of humor.
Survivors: He is dearly missed by his wife, Anastasia P. Gorman Beck, and children Stephen Sweeney, Kathleen Sweeney Lawler (David), Michael Sweeney and the late Gordon Sweeney. Also survived by his grandson Charles Murphy.
Funeral Service and Visitation: Funeral Service 1 PM Wednesday at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Avenue, Ridley Park, PA where friends may call after 12 noon.
Burial: Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery
