Ida Mae Revello (nee Northrop), 88, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2023 at her home. A lifelong resident of Essington, she was the daughter of the late James and Ellen O'Connor Northrop and sister of the late Doris N. Costello, Mildred R. Northrop and James W. Northrop. Ida graduated from Ridley Park High School in 1952, and shortly after married her high school sweetheart, Joseph John Revello. She was a selfless and devoted mother to Joseph J. Revello Jr., Kim M. Glasscott (Jay), Kristine A. Robinson (Richard), and the late Renee E. Revello Bibbens. She was a beloved Grandmom to eleven grandchildren - Rebekah Brackett (Jarred), Rachel McGlensey (Marc), Michelle, and Steve Bibbens (Kate), Matt (Erin), Julia, Daniel and Elisabeth Glasscott, Connor, Andrew, and Grace Robinson. She was also blessed with five great grandchildren - Adaleigh, Theodore, and Amelia Mae Glasscott, and Colin and Maura McGlensey.
Ida believed in family first. Words used to describe her by her family include selfless, generous, strong, kind, frugal, collector, creative, a calming presence, and enduring. Although quiet and gentle in nature, her strength shone in the face of adversity. Even until the very end, she was a pillar of strength and continued to put others first.
Ida was a gifted bird carver, and would join her husband at duck and bird shows around the eastern shore. Her favorite birds to recreate were chickadees and sandpipers. She was known for her M&M oatmeal cookies and potato salad that were a staple at every holiday and family celebration. She also enjoyed many special bus trips with her sister and friends, and was an amazing treasure hunter at Goodwill!
Her and her family would spend every weekend in the summer at their vacation home in Bethany Beach, and loved hosting friends and family to join in the fun. Her family remembers those weekends fondly - full of boating, fishing, crabbing, clamming, card games (especially Pinochle), practical jokes, lounging on the deck, and most importantly, making memories that will last a lifetime.
She was the matriarch of our family and will be missed beyond measure, but her impact will continue on for generations to come.
We welcome friends and family to join us in celebration of her life beginning at 9:30 AM Thursday, 9/14 at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home in Ridley Park with service beginning at 10:30. Her burial will be held at Edgewood Memorial Park with luncheon to follow. Memorial gifts may be made to St. John the Evangelist Church, 16 West 3rd St., Essington, PA 19029 or Friends of Heinz Refuge, https://fohrefuge.org
