Hugh was a kind man with a really great sense of humor and was known for helping others all during his life. He graduated from St. Thomas More High School, class of 1949 and after graduation enlisted and served as a medic in the US Army during the Korean War.  Before retirement, Hugh was a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service for 30 years and then he worked part-time in the Marple Newtown School District mailroom.  He was a member of the St. Tommy More for Evermore Alumni Association and was a former member of Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church.  Hugh was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan and enjoyed going to the Fitness Center.

Hugh was the loving husband of the late Margaret M. McGrath Ward and brother of the late John Ward, Joseph Ward, Jane Ward and Frances Engle.
He is survived by his daughters; Sally Ann Hazel (Steve) and Margaret Mary Ward (Mike Gaynor), his siblings Mae Nelson and Bernard Ward, four grandchildren; Christina, Stephen, Matthew, Steven Michael (Alexis), his great-granddaughter Maeve Iris, also survived by many nieces and nephews he held dear to his heart.

Funeral Mass and burial were held privately.
