Hubert T. Masters, Jr. 90
Of Ridley Park, died November 11, 2010 at Taylor Hospice Residence. Born in Philadelphia son of the late Hubert T. and Helen V. Fahy Masters. Mr. Masters was a resident of Ridley Park for the past 54 years, previously from southwest Philadelphia and a graduate of Overbrook Hight School class of 1938.
Mr. Masters was a Supervisor/Pipefitter and Electrician for Gulf Oil for 35 years retiring in 1981. He served in the US Army as a Staff Sergeant during WW2 and received a Purple Heart Medal for being wounded in Normandy, American Defense Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon and a Bronze Star. He was a member of VFW Post #4845 in Essington, American Legion Post #507 Norwood, the De La Salle Association and also was a 4th Degree Knight of Cardinal Dougherty Assembly #913 Knights of Columbus. He was also an avid golfer and had a hole-in-one in July 2004 at Del Castle Golf Club.
Mr. Masters was husband of the late Madeline R. Crooks Masters who died August 8, 1991, they were married 50 years at the time of her death, father of the late James C. Masters and was predeceased by five brother and one sister.
Survivors: Children, Thomas J. Masters (Joyce) of Rehobeth Beach, DE, Madeline M. "Lynn" Helmuth (John) of Folcroft, and Joseph P. Masters. Brother Thomas Master (Jacqueline) of Ocean City, NJ, also survived by ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 AM Tuesday at The Church of St. Madeline, Penn Street and Morton Avenue, Ridley Park, PA where friends may call 9 to 10:15 AM.
