Herbert R. Mahle, 89, of Prospect Park, died November 13, 2012 at his home. Mr. Mahle was born in Philadelphia and resided in Havertown prior to moving to his late residence 12 years ago. Herbert and his brother owned and operator Mahle's Bar in Upper Darby.
Herbert was a decorated U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, where he earned a Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, a Bronze Arrowhead and a European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with Five Bronze Stars. He was a member of the American Legion Post #214 in Upper Darby and the Lansdowne Lodge #771, F. & A.M. Herbert loved Philly sports, fishing and hunting, but most important was being with his family.
He was husband of the late Janet Andrews Mahle who died January 28, 2010, son of the late Paul and Louise Elizabeth Haberkern Mahle and was also predeceased by seven siblings.
He is survived by his children Janet Campbell Mahle, Deborah Jean Bucsek (Jeffrey) and Marlene Joyce Mahle and his grandchildren Stephanie C. and Austin A. Mahle.
Funeral Service will be held at 8 PM Friday, at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park, PA 19078 where friends may call after 7 PM. Burial private.
