Helen A. (nee Abramczyk) Friel, 96, of Ridley Park, died September 16, 2016, at Taylor Hospice Residence. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Victoria Abramczyk and resided in Leiperville, PA, before moving to her late residence 65 years ago.
Helen was a graduate of Ridley Township High School, class of 1938 and was employed by Temple University Alumni Association as an Associate Director for 25 years before retiring in 1995. She was a member of the Church of St. Madeline and was well traveled. Helen enjoyed theater, cooking, sewing and playing golf, but most important was her devotion to her family. She was a beloved Bopcha to her grand and great grandchildren.
Helen was predeceased by her loving husband, Philip J. Friel, who died Oct. 30, 1966; her siblings, Mary Miller, Edward Abramczyk and Henry Abramczyk; and her grandson, Michael Beauchemin.
Survived by her children; Patricia F. Spikol (Harvey), Victoria F. Veith (Gary), Phyllis Beauchemin (Philip), John P. Friel (Dee Smyth) and Joseph Friel (Susan); Bopcha to Amanda, Joanna, Jessica, Philip, Daniel, Helen, Luke, Madeleine, Kevin, great-grandchildren Lucy and Vivienne
Visitation: 7:00-9:00 PM Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016 and 8:15-9:15 AM Wednesday at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park, PA 19078
