Obituary

Harry E. Schukraft, 94, of Aston died peacefully at his home on January 8, 2022. Born in Upland, the son of the late Harry H. and Ellen Price Schukraft, he lived in Parkside before moving to Aston in 1952.

Harry was a graduate of Eddystone High School, Class of 1945, and received a degree in engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy, serving during World War II, and was a lifelong member of American Legion Post #926 in Green Ridge. Harry was employed as an engineer at the DuPont Company for 35 years before retiring in 1989. He was a founding member of the Aston A.A., and an active member of the Aston Seniors, Aston Woodcarvers, and the Aston Historical Society. Harry was inducted into both the Aston A.A. and Delaware County Sports Halls of Fame. For 32 years, he was an umpire for the American Softball Association and a basketball referee for Penn Intercollegiate Athletic Association.

Harry was brother of the late Catherine King, Helen Todd and Lucille Miley, and grandfather of the late David R. Schukraft.

He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Virginia "Ginny" Squire Schukraft, father of David H. Schukraft (Debbie), Stephen J. Schukraft (Sally), Regina M. Nusspickel (late Tom), Janet A. Zebleckes (Joe) and Susan V. D'Alessandris, as well as 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at The Church of St. Joseph, 3255 Concord Rd. Aston, PA 19014, where relative and friends may call from 9:45 to 10:45 AM. Burial will be at St. Thomas the Apostle Cemetery immediately following the mass. If not vaccinated, please wear a mask.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to The Church of St. Joseph.
