Mr. Gustaf "Gus" McKeown, 83, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed into the arms of Jesus Christ on December 3, 2018 at his home. Gus was born on July 31, 1935 in Chester, Pennsylvania and grew up in Aston Mills, Pennsylvania. Gus was the loving husband of Nancy Dopirak of 54 years.
Gus served in the Army as a Nike-Hercules Missile Crewman in Taiwan and Okinawa 1958-1960 and was honorably discharged in 1964. He was co-owner of Penn-Del Heating and Air Conditioning for 40 years building a successful business. In his wild years, he was a recreational skydiver, built numerous hot-rods and his meticulous craftsmanship carried forward in everything he did.
Gus loved his Irish heritage, hunting, fishing, DiCostanza hoagies, sharp cheese, the Booths Corner Sale, and spending time with family and friends at Shell Bay Campground, Cape May Court House, NJ. We have fond memories of him teaching his grandchildren to crab. He and Nancy are longtime parishioners at Holy Child Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his sister Marie (John), brothers, Daniel and Francis (Janis).
Gus is survived by his sons, Patrick (Jennifer), Christopher (Jaime), and Shawn (Melissa); daughter, Jacqueline; sister, Sophie "Sis", and sister-in-law, Anna. Gus and Nancy have 14 grandchildren, Madison, Cassidy, Moira, Declan, David, Gwen, Clare, Aidan, Ian, Maeve, Tory, Scotty, Alexandra "Lexi", Mackenzie "Mooka", and many nieces and nephews. He couldn't have been a prouder father and Pop-Pop!
