Gertrude Warwick, 91, passed away on October 31, 2018 at Christiana Hospital under Season's Hospice care. Although Gertrude lived at Brookdale White Chapel Assisted Living in Newark, DE for the past two years, she was a life-long resident of PA. Born in Easton, she was the daughter of William and Martha Schoenleber and after her mother's death in 1928, Gertrude was raised by her father and stepmother, Emma, in Essington.
In 1956, Gertrude married Robert Warwick, raising their family in Woodlyn, where she stayed even following his death in 1994. In addition to being a homemaker, Gertrude worked for various businesses over the years including, Essington Metal Works, Essington Post Office and Hallmark. She was active in her community, having been in the Order of Amaranth, the Order of Eastern Star since 1946, and a volunteer at Taylor Hospital for over 30 years. Gertrude loved the beach, her family, movies with friends and, of course, her Eagles and Phillies. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and she will be missed by her friends and loving family.
Gertrude is survived by her sons, William R. and Richard G. Warwick (Christine); her grandchildren, Daniel and Megan Warwick; her brother, Walter Schoenleber (Joan); her nephew, Walter Schoenleber; and her niece, Amy Gutowski.
Burial Rite and Eucharist: 10:00 AM Saturday, November 3, 2018 at St. John The Evangelist Episcopal Church, 16 W. 3rd St., Essington, PA 19029, where relatives and friends may call after 9:00 AM.
