Gerald S. "Jerry" Struble, 86, of Prospect Park, died March 30, 2020 at his home and his wife, Alfreda A. "Freddie" Rice Struble died on April 20, 2020 at Crozer Chester Medical Center.
Jerry was born in Altoona on November 10, 1933 and was the son of the late Gerald B. and Elizabeth Meinhart Struble. He was a graduate of Ridley High School where he played football, baseball, track, basketball and was Vice President of his Senior Class. Jerry served in the US Navy and the Army Medical Corp. in Germany and was employed by the federal government at Boeing before he retired. He also sold real estate for many years and was an avid sports fan and supportive of all family members.
Freddie was born in Chester in 1938. and was the daughter of the late Arthur F. and Olga H. Kuryea Rice. She graduated from Resurrection Grade School and was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, class of 1956. Freddie was employed by Bell Telephone in Chester, Crozer Chester Medical Center, Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital and John A. Boreman and Sons She was very proud of her Ukranian heritage. Freddie enjoyed roller skating, bird watching, carousels, family and praying. Freddie was a member of Legion of Mary. She is also survived by her brother, Frederick Rice, and a sister, RoseMarie Walters.
Jerry and Freddie were members of St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church and are survived by their daughters, Kathleen Davis (Rich), Christine Houston Hauser (William) and Carol Ann Mancuso (Carmen); eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren; also, many nieces and nephews.
They volunteered at Immaculate Heart of Mary in the soup kitchen and were eucharistic ministers at St Rose of Lima Parish.
