George Spanfelner, 89, of Aston died February 13, 2018 at his home. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John W. and Elsie Mason Spanfelner and resided in Catonsville, MD before moving to his late residence ten years ago.
George served in the US Army during the Korean War and was employed by the US Dept. of Housing and Urban Development as a Supervisor. He was a volunteer for service groups, including Eleven On Your Side and First Call for Help. George played competitively in Scrabble and was an avid reader, but most important was his family.
He was the loving husband of Florence T. DiPeppe Spanfelner; father of Joy Spanfelner and Jean Marie Ricks: brother of Thomas Spanfelner (Jane) and Joan Robostello; and grandfather of Caleb Spanfelner.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 AM Friday, February 16, 2018 at the Church of St. Joseph, 3255 Concord Road, Aston, PA 19014, where relatives and friends may call from 9:15-10:15 AM.
