George T. Sharp, 96, of Media, died on November 2, 2011 at The Residence at Glen Riddle.
Pre-deceased by his beloved wife Marjorie, George was born in Ashland, PA, and graduated from Bloomsburg State Teachers College in 1938. His 30 year career in education was spent in the Chester School District as a teacher in Franklin Grammar School and principal of Larkin and Stetser Elementary Schools. During this time he and his wife, also a teacher, directed plays and operettas as well as produced a series of radio programs featuring students from Franklin, Showalter, Jefferis, and Stetser Schools. After retiring in 1975, George and Marjorie traveled extensively and began publishing several books of poetry and short stories. Until recently, George continued to write and publish several historical novels set in the coal regions of PA.
Survivors: his sister Emily Lee of CA, as well as several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
