George E. German, Jr., 81, a lifelong resident of Essington died on November 19, 2023. Born in Southwest Philadelphia, he was the son of the late George E. and Mary Ellen Van Camp German.
George proudly served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a member of St. John Tinicum Memorial Lutheran Church. He retired as a crossing guard in Tinicum Township and had previously worked as a School Bus Driver in the Springfield School District and at PennDot and the Gulf Oil Corporation. George was a Life Member of the Tinicum Township Fire Department and the NRA and was a former member and Board Member of the Tinicum Swim Club. He also had coached baseball for the Tinicum Little League. He enjoyed hunting, camping and traveling, but the most important part of George's life was his devoted and loving family.
He was the loving husband of 60 years to Paulette McNutt German, father of George E. German, III (Lynn), Vicki Lynn Towey (Joe) and the late Kimberly A. German-Golden who died on August 16, 2010, brother of Joanne Alonzo (late Harry), grandfather of Michael Golden (Tara), Chelsey McMunn (Michael), Jason Golden, Brandi Nicholson (Joe), Andrew Towey and Karlee German, also survived by four great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services: Sunday, November 26, 2023, at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave Ridley Park. Relatives and friends may call after 1 PM. Prayer Service 2:30 PM. Burial private.
Mr. German's Funeral Service will be lived streamed on our Funeral Home's Facebook Page. The video will appear on our page shortly before the service is scheduled to begin at 2:30pm.
