Obituary

George M. Ernest, Jr., 94, of Swarthmore, died June 9, 2016 at Crozer Keystone Hospice at Taylor. Born in Bridgeton, NJ, he was the son of the late George M. and Pansy Kandle Ernest and lived in Essington before moving to his late residence 62 years ago.

George served in the US Army during WWII and was employed as a machine operator for Westinghouse Corp. He was a volunteer at Thorncroft Equestrian Center and Freedom Hills Therapeutic Center where he assisted people with disabilities in therapeutic endeavors; combining his love of horses and connecting with people. George was an avid boater and enjoyed sailing. He loved being with his family.

George was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Carmella E. "Betty" Pyle Ernest, who died June 27, 2015.

Survivors: cherished father to Lorraine Giberson and Nanette Ridgley (Tom); devoted grandfather to Melissa Herrin (Dennis) and Nathan Ridgley; brother-in-law to Doris Schrader (Eugene); uncle to Wayne, Paul and Eugene Schrader; also survived by his loving caregiver, Judy Strickler.
