IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Genevieve "Genny"
P. Neely
October 12, 2021
Heaven welcomed a new resident on October 12, 2021, Genevieve "Genny" P. Neely. Genny was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. to Peter and Jennie Papatopoli on March 8, 1933. She is survived by the love of her life, Chuck, her husband of 64 years and two children: Nina (Thomas) and Chuck (Sherri). Three grandchildren blessed Genny's life: Megan, Kenneth (Darcy) and Grayson. Genny will join her parents and her brothers, Eugene, Peter, Anthony, Harry and sister Rosalie, who have been patiently waiting for her to join them.
Genny graduated from Coughlin High School in Wilkes Barre, PA and started a 47 year career as a Registered Nurse when she graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Wilkes-Barre. She furthered her education by earning her B.S.N. at Neumann University, where she was the first president of the Neumann Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, the scholastic nursing honor society. Genny capped off her career by working as a Case Manager at Delaware County Memorial Hospital for 17 years, retiring in 2002.
Genny's remarkable life can be summarized in four words all beginning with the letter F. Love of FAMILY topped the list for Genny followed by FAITH. FRIENDS supported Genny in her life's journey and love of FAR AWAY PLACES enabled Genny to broaden her understanding of the world in which we live. Genny also enjoyed the opera, casinos, scratch tickets, playing tennis and spending time at her home in Avalon, NJ.
