Gail Clark Dougherty, 68, of Aston, went to see the Lord on October 1, 2018 at Crozer Keystone Hospice at Taylor. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late William and Violet Fitzgerald Clark and resided in Ridley Park for many years before moving to her late residence three years ago.
Gail graduated from Ridley High School, class of 1967. She worked at Boeing for several years in Industrial Engineering, then changed professions and became a Paramedic working for Sacred Heart Hospital and Taylor Hospital Paramedic Units. Gail later worked for Foamex as a Supervisor and Quality Control Administrator. For a part-time job, she worked for National Event Services as an Event Manager for medical services for major sporting events.
Gail was a member of the Ridley Park Fire Company, where she was the Company Secretary and the first woman firefighter. She was also a member of the Milmont Fire Company as a firefighter and ambulance Lieutenant for 10 years. Gail was active in Amateur Radio (WB3KAT) and actually met her future husband while in high school through an Amateur Radio Club dinner. Gail was part of the Radio Club on board the Battleship New Jersey since 2004, where she was a volunteer helping put the ships electronics systems back in service. Gail was a 50+ year member at Ridley Park Presbyterian Church, where she previously was President of the Board of Trustees, as well as taught Sunday School and Bible School.
Gail loved traveling up and down the east coast with her husband, sometimes spur of the moment, on week-long trips on their Harleys. They traveled to over 300 lighthouses and recently took a road trip to Yellowstone and the Midwest. Gail enjoyed cruises to Hawaii, Alaska, and the Caribbean. Her favorite trip was always to Walt Disney World, which she just visited in June.
After retirement, Gail was excited to design and fix up their dream house from scratch and was able to enjoy living in it for the past three years. One of the high points of her life, was spending time with her granddaughter, Caitlyn, especially when she stayed overnight.
Gail is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, Paul W. Dougherty; her children, Kimberly Knelly (Robert) and Mark Dougherty; the lights of her life, her granddaughters, Jessica and Caitlyn; and her brother, Thomas Clark (Nancy).
