Obituary

Frederick A. Mills, 83, of Cape Coral, FL passed away peacefully on October 24, 2020.  Born in Ridley Park, Pa, he was the son of the late Ethelbert Henry Jr. and Catherine L. Smith Mills. Before moving to Cape Coral in 1998, he lived in Glenolden, Boothwyn, PA and Plano, TX.

Fred was a 1955 graduate of Glen-Nor High School, attended electronics school at Philadelphia Wireless and Technical Institute, and was a veteran of the US Army.

He was employed by Philadelphia Suburban Transportation Company (also known as Red Arrow Lines, which later became SEPTA) where he was an electrician for 31 years before retiring in 1995 as a Senior Project Management Specialist. After his retirement from SEPTA, Fred moved to Plano, Texas to work at Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) on the construction of their light rail lines until his final retirement in 1998.

He was a life member of the Glenolden Fire Co. where he also served as Chief from 1972-1973, and was a member of the Pennsylvania Fire Chiefs Association.

A lifelong train enthusiast, Fred also enjoyed model railroading, radio controlled model aircraft, and electronics.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 41 years, Sylvia Jean Reed Mills, who passed away on July 30, 2020; his ex-wife, Elizabeth L. Forbes Mills; brothers, Ethelbert Mills III, Leslie Mills, Donald Mills, and sisters Kay Ritz and Dorothy Salter; granddaughter, Gabrielle Ellen Mills; and great-granddaughter, Ashlee Sierra Larko.

Fred is survived by his sons, Theodore D. Mills (Candy), Charles T. Mills (Sherri), and Michael F. Mills (Julie); siblings, Robert Mills, John Mills, William Mills and Linda McKeeman; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews; and his beloved Australian Shepard, Aussie Girl.

Relatives & Friends are invited to a graveside service at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at Rosedale Memorial Park, 3850 Richlieu Road, Bensalem, PA  19020.
