Francesco "Frank" J. "Max" Catania 90, of Milmont Park, died on September 6, 2022.

Born in Woodlyn, he was a lifelong resident of Ridley Township.

Frank was a graduate of Ridley Township High School, class of 1949 and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1954 to 1956.

He began his career as an apprentice machinist while a Junior at Ridley Township High School working at Baldwin, Lima, Hamilton Locomotive and became a Journeyman Machinist for Baldwin after graduating from High School. He left Baldwin in 1970 and then worked as a Journeyman Machinist and Machinist Instructor at Peco Energy for 20+ years, retiring in 1992.

In retirement he enjoyed baking, cooking and traveling with the love of his life, Rita, while keeping up the family home that he built in 1960.

Throughout his life, Frank was known by his boyhood nickname "Max". As an early teen during WWII he was active in the K9 Dog Foster Care program (Dogs for Defense) and worked a Victory Garden with his family.

He was the son of the late Rosario and Margaret Harvey Catania and brother of the late Thomas J. Catania and Concetta H. "Tina" Catania.

Frank was the loving husband of Rita M. Vail Catania, whom he married on October 13, 1956; father of Francis J. Catania, John F. Catania (Mary Ann) and Thomas J. Catania (Christine): grandfather of Andrew J. Catania, Matthew F. Catania (Nicole), Nicole O'Connell (Matthew), Kerry Catania and Jenna Sheller (Richard); great grandfather of Chase Sheller, Raegan Bernhardt and McKenzie O'Connell.

Funeral Mass 10:30AM Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church, 208 Milmont Ave., Milmont Park where relatives and friends may call from 9:15 until 10:15AM. Burial SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
