Francis X. "Fran" McAlpin, 85, a lifelong resident of Ridley Park died on February 13, 2023.  Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Samuel J. McAlpin and Doris Marie Stack Waltz (Jake).

Fran proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War.  He had been employed as an electrician at Bryn Mawr Hospital and had previously worked in the Steam Turbine Division at the Westinghouse Corporation.  Fran was a member of the Church of St. Madeline and the School House Seniors.  He loved fishing, hunting, camping and was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, but most important was his devotion to his family. The sunshine of his days was spending time with Kaylee Rose and Nicky.

He was husband of the late Marie F. Chattin McAlpin, father of Patty Dougherty (Joe), and the late Frank McAlpin, he is survived by seven grandchildren, Erin (Michael), Kristina (Jonathan), Joseph Jr, Alyssa, Robert, Holly and Katie, eight great-grandchildren and was the brother of Doris Davidson (late Art) and the late Margaret Cerato, Betty Micka and Samuel McAlpin.

Funeral Mass 10 AM Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at The Church of St. Madeline, 400 Morton Ave., Ridley Park where relatives and friends may call after 9 AM.  Burial Chester Rural Cemetery.
