Francis J. McKeown, 84 Francis J. McKeown, 84, a longtime resident of Upland, died July 2, 2014 at Crozer Chester Medical Center. Born in Philadelphia, Frank was son of the late Daniel A. and Marie Larson McKeown and had resided at Glen Mills Senior Living for the past two years.
He was a finisher at Phoenix Steel Company for 31 years, retiring in 1987. Frank attended Media High School and was a Tech Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, receiving the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of American Legion and VFW Posts. Frank loved sitting on his back porch watching birds, squirrels and referred to his home "as his castle."
He was husband of the late Janice Schnee McKeown who died in 1974; brother of the late Daniel A. McKeown (Anne) and Marie Mullin (Late John).
Survivors: His brother Gustaf D. McKeown (Nancy), his sister Sophie E. "Sis" McKeown and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Service: His funeral Mass was held at 10:00a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at The Church of St. Joseph, 3255 Concord Rd., Aston, PA 19014.
