Obituary

Francis John "Wawa" Dougherty, 80, a lifelong resident of Ridley Township, peacefully passed away on March 31, 2012 at Fair Acres Geriatric Center.

He attended Ridley Township High School and was a member of St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church and American Legion Post #777 in Crum Lynn. He proudly served his country in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy, receiving the National Defense Service Medal and The Good Conduct Medal. Wawa worked in the Highway Maintenance Department of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for 20 years, retiring in 1993. He was known for his great sense of humor and his love of sports, especially Ridley High School Football, for which he was inducted into the Ridley Township Old Timers Hall of Fame in 1999 as a Loyal Fan.

He was son of the late George A. and Elizabeth Mae Bell Dougherty and brother of the late George, James and John Dougherty.

Survivors: he was loved and will be missed by many nephews, nieces and many friends.

Funeral Mass: 10 AM Wednesday at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, 1901 Chester Pike, Eddystone, PA 19022

Visitation: 9 to 9:45 AM Wednesday at the church.

Burial: Immaculate Heart Cemetery
