Frances M. "Fran" Drennen Messer, 90 of Springfield died on February 11, 2013 at Taylor Hospice Residence.
Born in Philadelphia, she lived in Ridley Park before moving to her late residence four years ago.
She graduated from John Hallihan High School for Girls, where she earned the Inner City Free Style swimming medal.
Fran was last employed by Wackenhut Security at the Philadelphia Airport and previously worked at the Curtis Publishing Company.
She was wife of the late Chief Petty Officer Jack E. Messer who died in 1968. Fran was responsible for raising their children while he served in two wars. She was daughter of the late John J. and Clara Barnes Drennen and brother of the late Charles Drennen.
Survivors: her children Joan M. Bornt, John D. Messer (Linda) and James E. Messer (Lydia); also four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral Mass 10:00AM Friday, February 15, 2013 at the Church of St. Madeline, Penn St. and Moron Ave., Ridley Park where friends may call from 9 to 9:45AM.Burial SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
