Florence J. Wharton Verdecchio, 75, of Prospect Park died December 14, 2016 at Prospect Park Health & Rehab. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Hilda Ellis Wharton and resided in Holmes before moving to her late residence four years ago.
Florence was a graduate of John Bartram High School, class of 1958 and was previously employed as a waitress at the Erin Pub and the Inglenuk. She was a member of the New Destiny Christian Church and loved dogs, the Philadelphia area and the New Jersey Shore. Florence had a heart for helping others in need and loved her friends and caretakers at Prospect Park Health & Rehab.
She was predeceased by her husband, Vincent Morton Verdecchio, who died in July 2001; her son, Vincent Carl Verdecchio; and her sister, Nancy Mae Wharton.
Survivors: mother of David N. Verdecchio (Teresa), Mark T. Verdecchio (Regina), Joseph M. Verdecchio (Billie) and Andrew J. Verdecchio (Mindy); sister of Rose Skourtis; mother-in-law of Marianne Verdecchio; also, ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren
