Erik Scott Willette, 38, of Prospect Park died suddenly on November 19, 2015.
Erik was a graduate of Northeastern Clinton Central High School, class of 1995, where he played three sports, his favorite being basketball. He then earned an Associate Degree at Clinton Community College. During the fall semester of his sophomore year, Erik completed an internship with the prestigious New York State Senate Undergraduate Session Assistantship Program working under N.Y. State Senator Dale Volker followed by attendance at Union College in Schenectady, NY.
A well-known and beloved bartender and manager at several area bars and restaurants, most recently Moe's Bar & Grill in Springfield. An entertainer and storyteller, Erik would ignore protests when he'd ask the infamous question, "Do you want to hear a dirty joke?" which always led to an even more infamous punchline like, "Two white horses jumped in the mud!" Erik had a big heart. Known for his hugs, his ability to truly listen and his good advice and words of encouragement, Erik was a pillar for family, friends and strangers alike, In the words of Billy Joel, though, Erik was quick with a joke, but there was someplace that he'd rather be. His children were his life, his joy and his heart. He especially enjoyed Chelsea's plays and Christopher's football, baseball and basketball games. Despite his personal struggles Erik's love for his family remained steadfast.
Erik is survived by his children, Chelsea Elizabeth Evans and Christopher Scott Willette; his father, Mitch D. Willette (Gaye); brothers, Matthew Willette (Dorothy) and Danion Willette (Amy); grandmother, Mildred Willette; and his wife, Noël Willette of Wallingford.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Shelley Wallett Willette.
