Elizabeth G. "Betty" "Liz" Sweigart, 91, formerly of Concordville died on May 8, 2026. Born in Chester, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary Hegarty Galbraith.Betty was a graduate of Notre Dame High School for Girls, class of 1952, and had been employed as the Director of Hospitality at the DuPont Country Club before retiring in 1992.

She was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church where she sang in the choir, was on the Label Committee and ran the Pizza Booth for the Country Fair at St. Thomas the Apostle. Betty was the former President of the Greeters New Comers of Newtown Square and the Quota Club of Wilmington. She was an excellent seamstress, but most important was her loving family, especially her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 She was the loving wife of the late Donald Sweigart, who died on October 12, 2024 after 69 years of marriage, mother of Donald E. Sweigart, Maureen E. Markward (Del) and John G. Sweigart (Jennifer), grandmother of Martha Thompson (Stephen), Dutch Markward (Kaitlyn) and Cara Elizabeth Markward, great-grandmother of Llewyn and Jude Thompson and one on the way, and she was sister of Mary Dion, Rita Pennypacker and the late William Galbraith, Nancy Gargano and James Galbraith. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. 

Funeral Mass 12 Noon, Thursday, May 21, 2026 at St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church, 430 Valleybrook Rd., Glen Mills where relatives and friends may call 10:30 to 11:45 AM. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
