Elena Mary DiFulgo, lovingly known as Helen, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2024, at the remarkable age of 101. A long-time resident of Swarthmore, PA, Helen lived a life full of love, resilience, and dedication to her family.
Born and raised in the vibrant community of South Philadelphia, Helen carried the warmth and spirit of her upbringing throughout her life. Her South Philadelphia roots instilled in her a strong sense of family, tradition, and a deep connection to her community.
Helen is survived by her beloved daughter, Barbara Delgott, and her husband, Thomas; her devoted son, Dr. J. Robert DiFulgo; and her cherished grandsons, Thomas Delgott and Robert Delgott, along with his wife, Carrie. Helen was also a proud great-grandmother to Jason Delgott and Tyler Delgott, who brought immense joy to her life. She was also predeceased by her siblings Josephine Martinelli, Antoinette Petrucelli, Mary DiBiase and Vincent DiBiase.
Helen's love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. She found great joy in watching her family grow, and her legacy of love, strength, and perseverance will live on through them.
A service to celebrate Helen's life will be held at Notre Dame de Lourdes R.C. Church, 990 Fairview Rd., Swarthmore on Friday, September 20th at 11:00 AM where family and friends may call 9:45 to 10:45 AM. Burial SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor and remember the incredible life of a woman who touched so many hearts.
Helen's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and faith. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
