Obituary

Eleanor M. Schopf, 76, of Folsom, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2024, at her home. Born to the late Thomas and Eleanor Sanford Rafferty, she spent her formative years in Glenolden before moving back to her childhood home in Folsom 14 years ago.

Eleanor was a proud graduate of Notre Dame High School for Girls, class of 1965, and an active member of St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church. Her dedication to her Irish heritage was evident through her membership in the New Castle Irish Society and her work with the Divine Providence Village Rainbow Irish Step Dancers . She devoted over 20 years as a wrestling program booster at Interboro High School and generously volunteered for the Livestrong Foundation. In addition to all of this, Eleanor contributed to the community through her work at the YMCA.

Unbeknownst to her family and friends, Eleanor's financial records also show that she modestly and generously donated to a long list of charities.  Even while battling ALS, she donated to St. Rose of Lima, City Team, St. Joseph's Indian School, St. Jude's Hospital, the Special Olympics, St. Francis of Assisi, Shriners, and The Society of the Divine Savior.

Eleanor's unwavering passion for the Philadelphia Eagles was well-known, but amidst her diverse commitments, her most cherished moments were spent with her loving family.

Survived by her husband of 52 years, Bruce H. Schopf, Eleanor leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment. She is lovingly remembered by her sons Robbie Schopf (Heather), Brian Schopf (Amie), Christopher Schopf, and Sean Schopf (Claire), along with her adored grandchildren Liam, Aliza, Evan, Kaiden, Lilly, and Truly.

May her memory bring comfort and solace during this difficult time.
