Eleanor J. McDevitt (nee Stenz) 82, was called home on August 3, 2012.
Born and raised in Fairmount, she was a 1947 graduate of John W. Hallahan in Philadelphia and has been a resident of Ridley Park for 55 years.
She formerly worked for Bell Telephone Company and has worked as a waitress for over 50 years at various local restaurants including Kostick's and the Riddle Ale House.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, the casino, playing pinochle, bingo, doing the daily crossword puzzle and watching game shows. She was an avid sports fan and especially loved Notre Dame.
Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends, and her special nurses Ida Eckhardt, R.N. and her niece Debbie Quagliarello, R.N.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Hannah Stenz, siblings Joseph and John Stenz, Marie Kane, Agnes Coffey and her son-in-law Thomas Cain.
Survivors: her children Patricia Cain, Joanie Heydt (Glen) and Jake McDevitt (Bernadette); Grandchildren Jacqueline Egrie (Steve), Lauren Kobos (Ryan) and Ryan Cain; Great-grandchildren Elle, Steven and Emma. Sisters, her twin Ann McColgan and Joan Delaney (Jack); brothers-in-law, Thomas McDevitt (Anna) and Dody McDevitt. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass: 10 AM Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, 1901 Chester Pike, Eddystone
Visitation: 8:15-9:15 AM Wednesday at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Avenue, Ridley Park
Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery.
