Edward L. Shade, Sr., 89, of Folsom, died peacefully surrounded by family January 16, 2018 at Crozer Keystone Hospice at Taylor Hospital. Born in Chester, he was the son of the late Edward M. and Marie Eaton Shade and resided in Trainer before moving to Ridley Park in 1953.

Edward served in the US Navy during the Korean War and was employed by Sun Company for 25 years before retiring in 1991. He previously worked for Sinclair Refinery for 15 years. Edward was a member of Ridley Park United Methodist Church, Chester F&AM Masonic Lodge #236, Sun Sapphire Club, ROW Seniors and Trainer Senior Citizens. He enjoyed wood working and time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Edward was predeceased by his siblings, Kathryn Shade and George B. Shade.

He was the loving husband of Helen Bewley Shade, his wife of 64 years; devoted father of Nancy S. Ripley (William) and Edward L. Shade, Jr. (Michele); grandfather of William, Nicholas, Rebecca, Kevin (Rachel) and Brian; and brother of Phyliss Crouthamel and Nellie Boyce.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park, PA 19078, where friends may call after 9:00 AM

Burial: Lawn Croft Cemetery
