Edward W. Reed, 83
Edward W. Reed, 83 of Ridley Park died March 11, 2011 at The Wallingford Nursing Home, born in Philadelphia he was son of the late Edward T. and Lillian Prescott Reed.
Mr. Reed has lived in Ridley Park since 1958 previoulsy residing in Southwest Philadelphia. He was a graduate of John Bartrum High School, Class of 1945. He was the owner and operator of Reed's Auto Body in Prospect Park and also spent 20 years as an Instrument Pipefitter at Atlantic Refining Company. Most recently he was employeed as the manager of the maintence department at The Baptist Home in Philadelphia.
He was a former member of the Chester Pike Rotary and was thier "Man of the Year, 1985". He was also an avid gardener, Eagles fan and was a real handyman.
Survivors: his wife of 63 years, Bernice L. Ulshafer Reed, his children Edward W. Reed, Jr. (Maria) of Ridley Park, Nancy Horwoth of Ridley Park, Jerry Reed (Diane) of Aston, Sandie L. Cubit (Mark) of Mercersburg and Bonnie L. McDowell (Bruce) of Garnet Valley. Brothers, Robert Reed (Pat) of Williamstown, NJ and Donald Reed (Marge) of Cherry Hill, NJ. Also survived by eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A sharing of memories will take place 1 PM Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Avenue, Ridley Park where friends may call 12 to 2 PM.
