Edward I. Pierce 85, of Ridley Park, died on March 17, 2023.
Born in Upland, he was the son of the late Willard and Mildred Reynolds Pierce and lived in Boothwyn before moving to Ridley Park 61 years ago.
Ed was Director of Manufacturing for the Boeing Company until his retirement in 1997 and previously worked at Westinghouse Corporation.
He was a graduate of Chichester High School, class of 1955 where he played on the baseball team and was first chair trumpet in the band. After graduation he played fastpitch softball in the Greenhalgh League. He was inducted into the Delaware County Athletic Hall of Fame for Fastpitch Softball. Ed was a member of the Ridley Park Presbyterian Church, where he was a trustee. He served on the Board of Directors at County Savings Bank, Taylor Hospital, and was a Ridley Park Councilman and coached for the Ridley Park Boys Club. Ed enjoyed fishing and boating and was a member of the Ocean City Fishing Club, but most important to him was his loving family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Nancy G. Grant Pierce; his children Edward C. Pierce (Betty Ann), Jean Ross (Rick), Sandy L. Pierce and David J. Pierce (Kristin); grandchildren Christie (Bryan), Jaime (Richard), Edward (Ida), Daniel (Rachel), Isaak (Erin), Mark and Trent; also, ten great-grandchildren.
