Edward Phillip Guy, 71, of Ridley Park, PA died suddenly on September 17, 2016 at his home. Born on September 8, 1945 in Darby, PA, he was the son of the late William and Florina (nee Palin) Guy. Ed was a lifelong and devoted resident of Ridley Park and he resided at his current home for 41 years. He was a 1963 graduate of St. James High School and 1967 graduate of St. Joseph's University. He continued his education at Temple University and graduated with a master's degree in education as well as a master's degree in special education. He joined the Philadelphia School District in 1967 as an elementary school teacher, working at several schools throughout the district for 35 years. Ed was elected Mayor of Ridley Park and served in office from 1990 to 1994. He previously served on the Ridley Park Planning Commission, the Ridley Park Athletic Club as Baseball Commissioner and the Ridley Park Swim Club Board. He was a mentor to all who knew him and always encouraged others to "work hard, have fun".

Ed was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Diane Guy, SND, and his niece, Sarah Guy.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carol (nee Chung), his children Matthew (Claudette), Alison Ashenfelter (Josh), and Laura Barker (Jon), and his grandchildren, Ethan, Ryan, Teddy, Jack, and Eva. His surviving siblings are Daniel (Patricia) and William (Martha), along with his niece Jennifer Bernaski, nephews Daniel and William, and sister-in-law, Patricia Chung.

Funeral Mass 10:00AM Thursday, September 22, 2016 at The Church of St. Madeline, 400 Morton Ave., Ridley Park.

Visitation 6:30 to 8:30PM Wednesday and 8:15 to 9:15 AM Thursday at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park.
Burial private.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that contributions be made to the Ridley Permanent Scholarship Fund attributed to the Sarah Guy Memorial Scholarship and sent to Sue McKenna at Ridley Senior High School, 901 Morton Avenue, Folsom, PA 19033.
