Obituary

Edward J. Dwyer 91 of Aston, died December 29, 2013 at Sunrise at Granite Run.

Born and reared in Chester, he has lived in Aston for 59 years.

Edward was last employed as a furnace operator for Philadelphia Quartz Company and previously worked at former Sinclair/ BP Refinery, the Philadelphia Shipyard and Fibre Metal Products.

Mr. Dwyer was a very proud member of the Military Police in the Army Air Corps during WWII, receiving the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Service Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars and the WWII Victory Medal.

He was a graduate of Chester High School, class of 1940. Mr. Dwyer was a member of the Church of St. Joseph since 1955, the American Oil Workers Association, American Legion Post 926 in Aston, the AmVets of Foreign Wars and the Herbert W. Best VFW Post 928 in Morton.

Edward was husband of the late Marge MacLeod Dwyer, his wife of 66 years, who died in 2013; son of the late Edward J. and Elizabeth Diehl Dwyer and brother of the late Robert and Thomas Dwyer.

Survivors: his children Patricia Dwyer Simpson (James) and Michael E. Dwyer (Jacqueline); his sister Elizabeth Dwyer Marker; grandchildren Christopher (Nori), Amy and Adam Simpson, Patrick, Jennalyn and Molly Dwyer; also two great granddaughters Emily and Lauren Simpson.

Funeral Mass 10:30AM Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Church of St. Joseph, 3255 Concord Rd., Aston where friends may call from 9:15 to 10:15AM. Burial Mount Hope Cemetery.
