Edward F. Capriotti, 102, a longtime resident of Ridley Park died on February 21, 2025. Born in Ardmore, he was the son of the late Joseph and Dominica Ciatti Capriotti.
Ed enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17 and proudly served from 1942-1945 during World War II. During his service he was active in the South Pacific invading Tarawa, Okinawa and the Guadalcanal. After returning from his service he was employed as a machinist at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard for 42 years before retiring in 1990, and after retirement he worked for nine years for the Philadelphia Phillies. Ed was a member of the Church of St. Madeline in Ridley Park, the Ridley Park Seniors, the Over 50 Club, the Busy Bodies and the Men of Malvern. He also enjoyed volunteering with the Red Cross.
He was the husband of the late Anna DiLuigi Capriotti who died on July 21, 2009 after 62 years of marriage, the father of Joseph E. Capriotti (Eileen), Jean A. Lee (G. David) and Mariann J. Smith (William), the brother of the late Angelina Catania, Emilia Shahadi and Mary Herbert, grandfather of Coleen Sallusti (Philip), Christopher Capriotti (Christie), Laura Garvin (Dennis), Michelle Smith (David), Kristin Grandzol (late Gerard), and William E. Smith and was the great-grandfather of Frank, Julia, John, Joseph, Carlee, Edward, Johnathan, Danny, Anna, Jacob, Allie, Violet and Rose.
Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Saturday, March 1, 2025 at The Church of St. Madeline 400 Morton Ave., Ridley Park where relatives and friends may call 9:15 to 10:15 AM. Burial SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
