E. Blair Harper 90, of Brookhaven died on November 25, 2016, at his home. Born in Upland, he lived in Chester before moving to his late residence 55 years ago.
Blair started working for his father, Hiram A. Harper, at the family owned H.A. Harper Sons, Inc. in Chester, when he was a teenager. He continued to operate it in Boothwyn and Ocean City, NJ, along with his wife, Mildred, who died in 2001, until his retirement in 2010. Blair was a graduate of Chester High School and a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He served on the USS Texas in Southern France, Okinawa, and Iwo Jima. He was a member of Trainer U.M. Church, American Legion Post #87, Chester Lodge #236, F.&A.M., Nur Temple in Delaware where he was in the Clown and Mini Corvette Divisions, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Kiwanis Club of Chester, and a volunteer fireman at Felton Fire House.
Blair was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Mildred G. McKeone Harper; his parents, Hiram A. and Katherine A. Cantwell Harper, and his brother, H. Lewis Harper; his son-in-law Fredrick (Fritz) M. Warner Jr. He is survived by his daughters Adele Harper Warner (late Fritz) and Nancy Harper DePiano (Robert Jr.); grandchildren, Jennifer Scaramuzza-Fisher (Brian), Matthew DePiano (Melanie) and Vincent DePiano (Ann); his great granddaughter Avery Fisher; also nieces Carol, Lois, Linda, Sandy, and Patti: nephews Steve, Scott, and the late Stuart.
Funeral Service 10 AM Friday, December 2, 2016 at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave. Ridley Park.
Visitation 6 to 9 PM Thursday and after 9AM Friday at the funeral home
