Dudley Garrett Williams, 83, of Chester died peacefully on April 29, 2013 at his home after a long illness. Mr. Williams was born in Danville, KY and lived in Russell County, VA before moving to Chester 72 years ago. He was educated in the Chester-Upland School District and graduated from Chester High in 1949. Dudley was a member of St. Paul's P.E. Church.He was drafted into the US Army in 1951 and served in Germany. Mr. Williams came back to Chester and started a thirty-eight year career at Scott Paper, retiring in 1991. He married Bette Smith in August 1957.
Dudley was an avid collector and enjoyed traveling and spending summers at Long Beach Island. He was a history buff and a devoted Philadelphia sports fan.
He was son of the late Dudley G. and Vera Garrett Williams.
Survivors: his wife Bette (Smith) Williams, daughter Sally Ruth Williams, son David Samuel Williams (Sheree) and grandson Samuel Garrett Williams, also two step-grandchildren Bridger and Stevee Brenner.
Burial Rite and Eucharist: 10 AM Friday at St. Paul's P.E. Church, 301 E. 9thSt., Chester, where friends may call after 9 AM.
