Obituary

Dorothy "Dot" Hipkins (nee Gauntt), 95, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park on December 13, 2010 after a brief illness.


She was born on May 18, 1915 to George and Sarah Elizabeth (Small) Gauntt in Pleasantville, NJ. Mrs. Hipkins lived most of her 95 years in Ridley Park and was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Ridley Park.


She worked as a typist in the purchasing department at Westinghouse Electric Corp. in Lester, PA during World War II up until 1952 and later worked as a secretary at FMC Corporation in Marcus Hook, PA until her retirement in 1976.


Dot was a member of the Ridley Park Seniors and enjoyed traveling especially to the Jersey Shore, Florida and Hawaii. But she was most happy spending time with her family.


In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hipkins was pre-deceased by her granddaughter, Wendy Lynn Neely; husbands Robert J. Neely, E. Robert Moore and most recently B. Frank Hipkins with whom she shared 29 years of marriage at the time of his death in 2009.


Survivors: Son, George R. Neely (Beth) of Ridley Park; daughter Robin E. O'Toole (Kevin) of Downingtown; and also Frank's son James Hipkins (Sherry) of Prospect Park, and daughter Harriet Williams (Bill) of Wellsboro; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren.


Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park.


Visitation: After 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial: Private.
